    We visited Scala a few months ago and had the most amazing experience, with an excellent waitress and outstanding service. I recommended the restaurant to many friends afterwards and told everyone it was a must-have experience. Unfortunately, when we returned for Mother’s Day, it was a very disappointing experience from start to finish. The restaurant did not seem prepared for the service, even though our booking was for 12:00 and we arrived at 11:45. Our waitress was unable to explain the menu items properly and was not aware of the Steenberg Brut special. It also took approximately 20 minutes for our sparkling water to arrive. The manager asked upfront whether there were any allergies at the table, yet when the main course arrived, the pasta dish contained mussels, to which I am allergic. The main course consisted of three different pasta dishes, but all three were placed on the table at the same time. As a result, the second and third dishes were already cold by the time we started eating them. The dessert was exactly the same as the complimentary treat we received with the bill during our previous visit, and unfortunately there was no special touch or effort made for Mother’s Day. In addition, the waiter attempted to explain the dishes while walking around the table, making it impossible to hear what she was saying. Overall, it was a huge disappointment after the wonderful experience we had previously.

    Chloe was an excellent waitress. She explained the food well and added to the enjoyment of the meal. As small eaters, between the 3 of us we had 2 starters. The wild mushrooms were good if you like the strong taste of truffle. The bruschetta was ok. All 3 pasta mains were excellent. They were rich and perfectly sized if you plan to have a starter and dessert. My son ordered the coffee mousse and we were sorry we didn't do the same. Although the millefoglie was delicious too. Every plate had depth of flavour and was interesting to eat. The free tiny semi freddo on a stick was a lovely touch.
