    Pizza and one of the pasta dishes ordered, was cold by the time it was brought to the table. We had to send it back to be reheated. R10 corkage fee per person, to bring your own birthday cake, which is not communicated beforehand (to new customers, like us, who were unaware), the menu is extremely limited with chicken options, there is an additional charge for cream being added to Napoletana sauce, which is not stated on the menu nor communicated by the waiter, just to make new customers aware, so the bill was an unpleasant surprise! Bad experience overall…especially on my birthday. I’ll never go back!

    Thank you for your review. We are sorry that the pizza and pasta reached your table cold. That should not have happened, and when it was brought to our attention, the food was reheated. However, we do need to correct some of the other points raised. Our R10 per person cakeage charge is clearly stated on our menu, both online and in the restaurant. We also have a full bakery and dessert offering on the premises. Guests are welcome to bring their own birthday cake, but there is a small charge for doing so. We believe R10 per person is more than reasonable, and the policy is clearly communicated. Regarding our chicken selection, Settebello is a traditional Italian restaurant, and our menu reflects that. We currently offer baby chicken, deboned chicken thighs, pollo parmigiana, chicken tenders and a chicken pizza. We believe that is more than adequate representation of chicken on a traditional Italian menu. As for the additional charge for cream, Napoletana sauce does not contain cream. Cream is an additional ingredient, it costs money, and if a guest requests it to be added to a dish, there will naturally be an additional charge. The price of a dish covers the ingredients that make up that dish, not additional ingredients requested afterwards. What is particularly disappointing is that we had managers on duty who could have been approached at any point during your visit. If you were unhappy with the charges, the food or your overall experience, we would have welcomed the opportunity to discuss it with you there and then and, where appropriate, do something about it. Instead, we are hearing the full extent of your dissatisfaction afterwards through an online review, when unfortunately there is very little we can do to address your experience. We accept criticism when we get something wrong and the food arriving cold was not acceptable. But we also believe in responding when clearly displayed policies, reasonable charges for additional ingredients, or the style of our menu are presented as shortcomings of the restaurant. We cannot be everything to everyone, but we will always stand behind what we do and the traditional Italian restaurant we have chosen to be.

    First time trying out SetteBello. Service was good and most of the food we ordered was, too. The only disappointment was that the pasta was extremely overcooked. It’s not unreasonable to have expected for it to be cooked al dente without having to have specifically requested so.

    My daughter had a fantastic time at Settebello for her 18th birthday. The food was excellent and there was more than enough. Her waiter Gift was outstanding. Thank you

    The restaurant is in need of a few tables that are a little more isolated for when you want to have a quiet meal for two people. Looking for a place that has a dining area for 2 to 4 people in Gauteng is not easy. I personally think if they had a couple of rooms for couples, it would be a great hit.
