Nestled in the fertile Constantia Valley lies a 300-year old wine estate, Groot Constantia and on it, Simon’s Restaurant, where we celebrate the riches of the Cape winelands by transforming the freshest ingredients into memorable meals.

Revel in the Cape Town summer by dining al fresco on our terrace with panoramic views of the Groot Constantia vineyards. Savour the wines of the valley or enjoy our wide selection of craft beers. As the weather turns, join us inside where we like to light a giant fire on chilly days.

Less than 20 minutes from Cape Town city centre. Less than 15 minutes from Hout Bay and only 12 minutes from Newlands, Simon’s is the perfect winelands dining experience.

Enjoyed our lunch at Simons, until 3 ladies with 4 dogs took the table next to us, we were inside, at one point one of the dogs was woundering around. If we were still eating would of asked to be moved

I would definitely recommend Simons for the location, ambience and service. However, there was nothing wow about the eggs benedict we ordered. It was ordinary, bland, on a thin piece of hard muffin/bread that was tough to cut through and definitely overpriced at R135. The coffee and carrot cake were much better.

The setting is gorgeous and it’s dog friendly. The food also was decent enough in terms of taste, but it was overall a confusing and uncomfortable experience. We were only 2 people and it wasn’t busy, but we struggled to get served. Then they managed to get 1 order wrong and the other order was not at all what was described on the menu. When I pointed it out to the waitress, she laughed and said it must be an old menu. The waitress was a lovely and friendly person and to her credit they did bring me a side of veg to try and make up for the lack of veg described on the menu, but it still wasn’t the same as what was promised in the menu. We were made to feel like we we were annoying complainers just because we wanted what we had ordered. My boyfriend’s meal was an entirely different dish from what he ordered and was very small, and had goats cheese even though he had ordered a meal from the vegan section. When we asked, the staff just said yes it was the correct meal. By this point, we were tired of fighting them so he just ate it, but was left hungry and disappointed as it was a very small salad instead of the main he ordered. Portions in general are also very small for the price. Groot Constantia is a lovely setting, but this restaurant needs to train its staff on the menu items and have a better system for allocating waiters to tables and ensuring customers get served. Luckily we are vegetarian and not vegan, otherwise we would have been even more upset about the surprise inclusion of dairy items.
