Nestled in the fertile Constantia Valley lies a 300-year old wine estate, Groot Constantia and on it, Simon’s Restaurant, where we celebrate the riches of the Cape winelands by transforming the freshest ingredients into memorable meals.

Revel in the Cape Town summer by dining al fresco on our terrace with panoramic views of the Groot Constantia vineyards. Savour the wines of the valley or enjoy our wide selection of craft beers. As the weather turns, join us inside where we like to light a giant fire on chilly days.

Less than 20 minutes from Cape Town city centre. Less than 15 minutes from Hout Bay and only 12 minutes from Newlands, Simon’s is the perfect winelands dining experience.

We had a fantastic Mother's Day lunch. My wife appreciated the complementary glass of bubble on the lawns before we sat down. The variety of food choice suited the kids and adults and the service was exceptional.

I was deeply disappointed with the overall experience, especially as I had been genuinely looking forward to it. High tea is something my mom and I enjoy together — we make a point of trying different venues around Cape Town, from the most iconic to the more hidden gems, in search of something special. Unfortunately, this restaurant is simply not equipped to offer a proper high tea experience and should either remove it from the menu entirely or rebrand it as a standard dessert offering. To begin with, our table wasn’t set upon arrival, and we had to wait ten minutes for it to be prepared. After that, it took even longer for a waiter to attend to us. While I understand that it was Mother’s Day, it’s unacceptable to take bookings and charge full price if you can’t deliver the service. The food was especially underwhelming — bland savouries with zero seasoning. It felt as though the chef had never heard of salt or spices. The desserts were passable but nothing memorable, and the teas were just basic, supermarket-standard brands — not the specialty teas one would expect from a proper high tea. High tea, by its very nature, is meant to feel like a luxurious treat — something unique and thoughtfully curated. This was not that. The restaurant itself may be better suited for regular dining, but it should absolutely stop advertising a high tea experience when what it delivers is below average at best. Very disappointed — I won’t be returning or recommending it to anyone.
