Our one of a kind family-friendly restaurant located in the heart of Irene, Centurion. The Barn Restaurant which is situated within the iconic Irene Farm, is in one of the historic original farm buildings which date back over 120 years. We offer intimate and charming inside dining or serene outside seating under the old oak trees with picturesque views of the farm. For the families, we have newborn calves to interact with, a jungle gym, splash pool for the toddlers and antique tractors to fiddle with. There are several small dams with ducks, geese, turtles and fish for you to see. If that wasn't enough to do, there are also walking trails around the farm which take you through our avenues of trees and pastures of Holstein cows. No matter the age, we have something for you. Come unwind at Irene Farm for an unforgettable experience and timeless memories!

The platters were unfortunately bland and did not feel worth the price charged. The sweet platter included tennis biscuits, which are very basic and something we could easily have provided ourselves. It did not feel unique or thoughtfully prepared for an event setting. Similarly, the meat platter consisted of whole strips of fried bacon, which again felt overly simple and not reflective of professional catering standards. In addition, the service was disappointing. On several occasions we had to leave our tables to find waitstaff for assistance or to be served, which affected the overall experience and flow of the event.

I am very disappointed in the cost of the evening in relation to what we got out of it. Management failed the waiters in not properly preparing them, I saw they did the best they could at that time. But they where all over the place, meals coming in without proper intervals. The whole evening felt rushed, we were asked by atleast 6 different members of staff, if we have ordered our next course, before the starters were even brought out. Before we finished our starters the main course already arrived at the table. Something small but still needs mentioning, on the menu it was said that the buns for the table was being served with farm butter, but we received a single serving of Lupark butter to share, with no butter knife. We had to cut the lamb with butter knifes and with my cheese plate, there weren't any utensils provided, I had to cut the cheese with the spoon that was on the table. Even though the food was delicious, it didn't relate to what the costs were, the same with the drinks, there's no reason for a restaurant like the Barn to charge that much for drinks. The service fee that was added for the booking wasn't mentioned and couldn't be explained, the waiters didn't know about that. It's shocking to pay R200, including tip for 3 drinks. Paying R1650 + R200 in total for the evening is ridiculously expensive for the actual value of the overall experience. For someone that has known the Irene Farm for years, going there since I was a child, it was very sad to have experienced what we did. What made it even worse is that I have a chronic lung condition and there were 2 people that I saw, who vaped at their tables and no one addressed that! Again, it's shame to have paid that much for this experience. I decided on not addressing all of this at that time, because the staff had their hands full trying to do their jobs and get to everyone. This is 100% a managerial issue and can not be blamed on the staff of the evening.
