    Had an absolutely delicious meal at Koen & Mathias, two former residents of Rupelmonde in Belgium who, six years ago, built up this fantastic business. A butcher shop, restaurant, and supplier of top-quality products to various restaurants in the stunning Cape region."

    What a lovely find. Was on business while out in Cape Town when I stumble across this place. It’s a restaurant/deli and I can honestly say it’s one of the best restaurants experiences i’ve had for a very long time. I had the Sirloin On The Bone with all the trimmings and it was cooked to perfection. The service was top notch as they were very attentive to all my needs. If you’re looking for quality Steak this is the place to come.

    We had an outstanding lunch! The grass fed dry aged meat was out of this world, also the tapa style starters where very good. ( we took the sardines with chermoula and the lamb ribblets) Prices where also very reasonable. We will definitely be back for more.

    This wasn't the first time that we had dinner at The Butcher's Mermaid. Like the times before, we were not disappointed. There is something for all tastes to be found on the menu.The meat is absolutely delicious! You must try the hot stone option and sizzle your favorite cut to perfection! The sauces served with our order are just mouthwatering and the fries... crispy and simply delicious! The wine selection is varied and well adjusted to the food offerings. The service is professional and very curteous. We recommend this small gem in Hout Bay to our friends and guests! No one that has gone there was ever disappointed. We'll certainly be back!

    We had to wait more than 1.5 hours to get our food. After one hour we were told that our meat selection was no longer available. Steak was ordered medium but came on the rare side. Was replaced, but again rare center. Drink orders had to be repeated after ten minutes not to be forgotten. Poor service, sticky tables. Sometimes, things go wrong but there were no „Sorry“ from the service, no complimentary drink or so. Unfortunately, it seems to be normal business for them.
