Your Italian Restaurant in Cape Town

The Cousins Trattoria was an idea created by Andrea, Simone and Luca who wanted to bring their knowledge and passion for food to Cape Town.

These cousins from Romagna, on the Adriatic coast of Italy, have lived in (and loved) Cape Town for many years, but felt there was not a place in the city where they could find the simple, authentic Italian food they had grown up with, in their homeland.

So joining their skills, they opened The Cousins Trattoria, where Andrea makes fresh pasta every morning, using only fresh and natural ingredients, just like Mama does! Bread and tiramisu are baked daily; great coffee and a passion for service makes this easy going place a heaven
for the senses.

Buon Appetito!!!

Still dreaming about dinner last night. We wandered into this cozy little trattoria and let’s just say… the pasta gods were smiling. Now, I don’t want to be dramatic but the Ravioli Pomodori might have changed my life. Soft pillows of pasta floating in a rich tomato hug. It was like getting a love letter from Italy. And then came The Cousins Pasta… oh my carbs. If I could bottle the sauce and wear it as perfume, I would. The vibe inside? Pure magic. Warm lighting, rustic charm, and a kind of “you are part of the family now” energy that made us want to stay for breakfast too. Service? Impeccable. Friendly, fast, and full of recommendations that made us feel like regulars on our very first visit. Unforgettable evening. Absolutely five stars. If you are looking for something real, comforting, and just flipping delicious this is your place. Go hungry. Leave happy. Return often… like us, going for a second night in a row 😁😁

Restaurant was full on a Wednesday evening. Waiter was lovely and interactive. Food was good but not spectacular. However my ragout was so salty I could not eat it. I informed the waiter and suddenly one of the owners appeared. Said nothing but removed my plate. Lots of raised voices in the kitchen. Waiter returned and suggested I ordered something else. The owner walks past and stops away from our table and instructs me to taste my dish without adding salt! I informed him that I had not added salt. He instructed me again not to add salt! Told him again I had not. He then got quite rude and said again that I must try first before adding salt! He then walked past our table many, many times as kitchen is there but did not bother to ask how the new dish was nor apologize for the inconvenience as my hubby and son were eating whilst I waited. Why be unnecessarily rude to a customer. Why spoil the atmosphere with your rudeness and why make your paying customer feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. So unprofessional and perhaps trying to mimic Gordon Ramsey. Many reviews say he is rude and arrogant which makes no sense at all.
