Disappointed at corkage fee of R 150, would be better to know that upfront.

Considering that this is a wine region we found wines overpriced. Quantity of meals were good but once again unnecessarily priced on the high side. Service and attention to patrons was high and courteous. Unfortunately Franschoek has become a tourist destination more than a local destination and although certainly recommendable you can expect to pay 4 Star prices for 3 Star meals.

The French Connection Bistro responded on Wed 28 May 25:
Dear Helder Thanks for the review and feedback. Unfortunately the price of everything goes up, notably food, wine, fuel and high street rentals, which makes pricing we pass on to the customers a bit of a balancing act. Despite being in the Winelands, we don't get any special discounted wine to pass onto customers, contrary to popular belief. If a restaurant is on a wine estate, this can be the case. We have always pitched our restaurant at the local market, even though we do get many tourists in the Summer months. We buy the best ingredients and try to offer the best value with across the board pricing on food and wines. Thanks again for the feedback and we hope to see you again soon. Regards Matthew (Owner)
