    We visited The French Connection Bistro on a chilly evening, and the warm, toasty interior provided a lovely and inviting atmosphere. It was a perfect escape from the cold. The service was genuinely excellent; the staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcomed throughout our meal. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the ambiance or service. We ordered the mussels (starter portion), which came in a sauce that resembled a thin coconut broth. The consistency was too watery, and the flavour was salty. We also tried the prawn pasta (starter portion), which surprisingly carried a strong coconut taste again, not what we anticipated. The dish felt imbalanced and didn’t offer the rich or savoury flavours one might expect from a prawn pasta. Overall, while the bistro’s setting and service were delightful, the food left us underwhelmed.

    Dear Keshnee Thanks for your valuable and detailed feedback. I apologise the food was disappointing on the evening you visited us. We hold ourselves to a high standard, which we maintain very consistently. The coconut flavour in the Mussel sauce is a mystery though, as its not part of the dish in anyway. The management team assured me you were checked on several times during your meal and never voiced any unhappiness. It's a pity, as we like to ensure all our guests leave happy, even if we have to redo a dish. I will take the your feedback up with the kitchen team. Once again, my apologies.     The mushroom Risotto was magnificent as always. Mussels were ok. The cream sauce had no taste and was like water. The cream sauce needs to be thicker, creamy, with some herbs and fresh garlic

    Best mussels i have ever tasted, i keep going back!! My favourite restaurant in Franschhoek.
