Our first time real fine dining experience and I will probably adjust my reviews along the way until I have had a few more such experiences - meaning we will definitely come back and encourage other fine diners to sample I cannot really provide a “fine dining” review in context but had a lovely experience all round The dining space is small and intimate but the kitchen fumes and heat was a bit overpowering and the food smell remained in the clothes - so you guys could do with better extraction from kitchen to outside Please also consider straight back chairs in future especially for diners with back issues - in terms of ambience and style a lovely sturdy straight back dining chair will do better and allow for more movement I loved the interaction between the “ Uncles” and the diners You and staff made us feel most welcome indeed The waiting staff attended very well and could explain in detail what each course consisted of instead of just putting the plates down and walking away - I really compliment your establishment on this and very well done to all Background music volume was just right for fine dinning experience When it comes to meat some patrons prefer medium to well done or well done - I propose the waitrons discuss that request in advance but I decided to take the house serving as offered because that was how the chef designed the flavours and menu - it is part of the fine donning experience for me to participate in the offerings as the chef intended too My review is based on a 4 course meal - first time but definitely not last time time diner Reviews will change as we have more experiences at fine dinning over time and also the fact that this establishment is the only local community boys establishment delivering at this level. - a BIG thumbs up Keep up the good work Uncles Dear all in terms of price and when it comes to fine dining do not only look at what is on your plate but instead look at the many years of training and ex of experience any such chef gas to go through - this is about creativity and designing taste, flavours, hand selected ingredients, visual food art being offered and a combination of so many factors and energy that makes this a fine dining experience At the end of the day and as a purveyor of fine dining there is only one motto (for me) “Good wholesome food does not come cheap” -

What a great place. Love the story about the transition from My Cross Aunt to The Happy Uncles. The food was delicious; the restaurant is cozy, and the service friendly. Highly recommend supporting this endeavor, also for making fine dining accessible to those who are halal (and though we were not, we appreciate that idea!).

Had a good night out. Food came out of the kitchen reasonably quickly. Staff very attentive. Is a must try, even as a once off experience.

We were really excited to try The Happy Uncles for the first time. I had included a comment when making the booking, but when we arrived it was clear they hadn't read my note. It was also quite hot in the restaurant as there is no AC. From all the courses, 2 were "wow" (the sea bass and the beef). I can't say the same for the others. They weren't bad, but definitely not wow. The complimentary welcome drink and water (still and sparkling) were a really nice gesture. Overall, I didn't find this to be value for money.

We had high expectations but unfortunately we did not fully enjoy our 8 course dinner mainly due to poor service. No menu was provided so unsure what we were eating as explanation from servers was poor. Very long evening (over 4 hours) with long wait between courses. Highlight was the amuse-bouche. Expensive R5400 for 4 excluding drinks (no alcohol) and service.
