The beautiful Ocean Terrace restaurant, with gorgeous views across the Indian Ocean, serves a Bistro-style menu and is perfect for casual, al fresco and family dining. With something to suit every palate favourite dishes include freshly baked pizzas from the wood-fire pizza oven, sustainably sourced seafood and a host of perennial favourites such as fish and chips. The Ocean Terrace also serves a delicious English Breakfast daily, as well as an a la carte menu for lunch and dinner.

Also on offer in the Ocean Terrace, the incredible Curry Buffet, including authentic Tandoori Chicken, continues to attract fans from far and wide. Using delicate hand-blended combinations of spices and fresh herbs, the extensive selection of Curries includes, meat, fish and vegetarian option - making each curry a masterpiece!

The Ocean Terrace is also the perfect backdrop for a relaxed sundowner overlooking the rim flow pool and sea.

    Greetings…. Where the Oyster Box is my favourite Hotel in Umhlanga where I Reside, I need to make mention that this automatic gratuity of 10 Percent & With the Grill Room 15percent is not acceptable, Gratuity is earned based on service not automatic !! I poured my wine during our afternoon… I highly recommend you revisit this System.. look after your locals here.. with Thanks Angus Innes

    I come to Durban once a year in business and every time I set aside time to take my clients to lunch at the Oyster Box hotel. In fact is has become a bit of a tradition for us and everyone looks forward to a great experience. Yesterday, our experience was disappointing. There were 3 of us at the table and our server was Nora. We ordered a soup, Greek salad without olives, and sushi to start. We also asked for a chicken bunny chow and an order of the grilled chicken. This happened at 12:50 pm. The soup and the salad came out quick enough. The soup was good but the salad came with olives. My client had to pick through the olives and remove them from the plate. In the end she hardly touched her salad except for the feta cheese. The sushi followed and it was good. Then nothing happened until 1:45 pm when I asked our server where our food was and informed her that we had to leave in the next few minutes and back to our meeting at 2:30 pm. The bunny chow and the chicken did come 2 minutes later (1:50 pm). While the chicken was good, the bunny chow came out cold as it from the fridge. It probably sat in the kitchen for 20+ minutes, if not longer without the server doing anything about it. Our server rarely stopped by the table throughout our meal. Clearly she had no idea what she was doing and there was little supervision around. The gentleman who sat us, Callum, never once stopped by the table despite saying that he would. Nor did anyone else. When time came to pay there was another server who brought the check in because our server had disappeared. I've been traveling to South Africa for over a decade and for the most part my dining experiences have been excellent. I never expected bad food and, worse bad service from the renowned Oyster Box. With so many restaurants in Umshlanga I think we'll out the oyster box in the rearview mirror and give others the chance to shine the same way that this renowned hotel once did.
