The Pot Luck Club, situated on the top floor of the Silo of the Old Biscuit Mill on Albert Road, Woodstock opened February 14th 2013. Since its opening day The Pot Luck Club has filled 2 sittings each night throughout high and low season, running to capacity of sixty guests per seating. It has been dubbed the coolest place to be in Cape Town and its success is based on innovative cuisine, the small plate sharing concept served in a relaxed yet edgy environment in a part of Cape Town that previously never attracted an evening dining crowd.

Gourmet Guide™ Description

Panoramic views of the Mother City from six storeys up in an old silo set the scene for some vibey dining. There’s the constant hum of happy palates as the chef brigade toils in the open kitchen. Ringside seats at the counter are something to aspire to. The friendly, intuitive service
reflects the fact that many of the front-of-house team have been in situ for longer than Jason.

Globally inspired, chef Jason Kosmas has a Greek father and Italian mother (and chef wife!) to thank for his ability to ensure full-bodied flavours on every plate. Lunches and dinners bring adventure seekers from all over the world. The legendary Sunday brunch (think bottomless bubbles, a Bloody Mary or two, live music and a series of plates boasting bodacious tastes).

But it’s a dish like the roast duck with a beetroot tart and dressed lettuce wedges that keep regulars happy. There remains a segment on the menu devoted to die-hard fans, called Family Favourites. Sweets may include a yummy guava malva pudding with chestnut ice cream and Jerusalem artichoke crisps. These delicious root vegetables are preserved so that they can make a guest appearance out of season.

3/5 stars I've been a loyal patron of the Pot Luck Club for a while now, but my latest visit was a bit of a letdown. While the beef with truffle sauce was truly exceptional, the rest of the dishes didn't quite live up to my expectations. The bread course, which I've always enjoyed in the past at other of Luke, like epice and La colombe constantia are world class, this bread course needed some refinement. It was a bit bland and lacked the usual warmth and freshness I've come to expect. The taco stack was a visual disaster - it literally fell over on the plate! While the flavors were okay, the presentation was a major fail. The pork belly was delicious, but it was missing that perfect crunch from the condiments. And don't even get me started on the fish baos - they were soft and lacked the crispy texture that makes them so addictive. The chickpea chips were a major disappointment. Soggy and flavourless, they were a far cry from the crispy, addictive snacks I've had at other events. Overall, I'd love to see the Pot Luck Club step up their game and bring back the magic that made me a loyal fan in the first place. With a bit more attention to detail and quality control, I have no doubt they'll be back to their usual excellent selves.

The potluck club was overall excellent. From the moment I entered the restaurant, I was greeted with a warm welcome. The service throughout my meal was absolutely divine. I had the lunch prefix menu the loaded one and it was more than enough. I was so full! I would highly recommend this place

Mushroom Risotto: This mushroom and artichoke dishes stands out for their rich, earthy flavors and the creamy smokey coffee textures, enhanced with seasonal truffles, making them two favorites. The delicate preparation of tender rock lobster featuring wrapped in subtle Eastern spices with each flavorful bite. The melt-in-your-mouth quality of Wagyu beef, elevated by a decadent truffle-infused sauce, delivering a harmonious balance of richness and umami. Food memories fade quickly but these deep textured layers of flavor keep returning to me.
