The Pot Luck Club, situated on the top floor of the Silo of the Old Biscuit Mill on Albert Road, Woodstock opened February 14th 2013. Since its opening day the pot luck has filled 2 sittings each night throughout high and low season, running to capacity of one hundred and twenty guests. It has been dubbed the coolest place to be in Cape Town and its success is based on innovative cuisine, served in a relaxed yet edgy environment in a part of Cape Town that has never attracted an evening dining crowd.

Gourmet Guide Description

Take a ride to the sixth floor of the Biscuit Mill’s old silo with panoramic Mother City views for a raunchy ride of taste. It’s a vibey hub, many hands making wonderful work in the open kitchen over lunch, dinner and those renowned Sunday brunches. With no back door you are up close and personal with the reality of what it takes to make and keep a reputation for delicious dishes.

Opened by the legendary Luke Dale Roberts 12 years ago, it changed the landscape of fine dining, de-formalising what was previously stiff and stuffy, making small plates fashionable. Here it’s all about good ingredients transformed into the kind of dishes you would die for. Executive chef Jason Kosmas, at the helm since 2019, draws from his Mediterranean roots and love of Asian flavours.

Start with a zesty cocktail, and if you cannot decide what to order, enlist the advice of the personable waiting team. In winter, there’ll be a hint of comfort food, elevated and lightened, in summer you’re sure to see tuna and yellowtail. Himself a fisherman, Jason is uber-innovative when it comes to dry-aging tuna belly and yellowtail, using ancient Japanese techniques, in which the aging process relaxes the protein and enhances flavour and texture. Aged on the bone in special fridges, he calls it his ‘Wagyu of the sea’.

Chefs Luke and Jason feed off one another’s energy and ideas, and the results are unique.

    Pot Luck club is an absolute must for newbies to the city. Hidden at the top of the old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock it’s got panoramic views, a fine dining take on flavours of the Cape and service that’s up there with the best!

    With Restuarant week on we decided to try an old fave again - so 1st time back at the Pot luck club in quite a while. Featuring live jazz music, ten courses including decadent dishes such as Oysters, Arnold Bennet, Duck and more plus an optional DIY Bloody Mary Station and unlimited bubbly, what is not to love? Priced at R1250 per person, excluding drinks and gratuity. The Bottomless Bubbly and DIY Bloody Mary inclusion is available at an additional cost of R530 per person. Bookings are essential.
