The restaurant had no record of my pre-payment via dineplan so we were held up for 20mins while they checked that. Very annoying especially when Taryn at the President advised payment must be done beforehand only to be held up.

Booked breakfast for 4 people. At R395 pp they definitely not the cheapest. Been there previously but yesterday was easily the worst experience. I had to sit and speak to the duty manager afterwards and there were many issues that arose. Some were, no fish (haddock/mackerel or salmon), so no salmon benedict. Asked for 2 eggs poached soft, waited about 10 minutes and was brought in a little glass bowl, ice cold! Sent these back and was told that they will warm it( really????). Needless to say, I returned those as well as OVERCOOKED. The 3rd batch that arrived were 4 minutes past HARD! The waiter then ‘politely’ uttered that maybe a fried egg will be better for me! Was told the fresh cream never arrived so there went the scone, strawberry jam and cream, albeit the table next to mine somehow got some cream (probably because they were UK tourists and their money is more valued than this local. Siphokazi is a fantastic manager and came to sit with me and discuss what the issues were. For all of these she had reduced my bill by 50%, I accepted only after she insisted as it’s not the freebies we are wanting, we knew the price before we entered the building, but if you have to pay that amount for breakfast then at least have a decent spread and have items available.

Lovely, relaxed lunch at the Poolside. The Botany Cafe menu offers a nice range at a reasonable price. We had a choice of three salads and one protein for R160. A glass of wine was between R90 and higher, but not unexpected at a four- star hotel. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, without being intrusive. More locals should try this- we tend to think Hotels are for visitors to Cape Town only.

We celebrated my mom-in-law's 60th birthday as a family this past Sunday, and it was truly lovely! The food was delicious, and there was SO much of it! At the end of the meal, we were half rolling out of the restaurant because we were all so full! :) Definitely worth the cost - incredible value for money! A very BIG thank you to Amahle and Jay Jay, who served us SO well! They were attentive, kind and super on top of it from the time we sat down until we left.
