Morii at The Vineyard Hotel offers an Italian-inspired dining experience shaped by Cape Town’s seasons, produce and sense of place. The name Morii speaks to the desire to hold onto fleeting, beautiful moments, which is exactly what the restaurant celebrates through handmade pastas, slow-proved breads, house made charcuterie and cold-fermented wood-fired pizzas. Fresh, ingredient-led dishes offer familiar comfort with a lighter, expressive touch, from a reimagined Caprese to a deeply comforting tiramisu.

The drinks program is crafted with the same attention to balance and enjoyment. The wine list brings together Italian expressions and Cape favourites chosen for character and terroir. The cocktail menu centers on the Negroni, offered in thoughtful regional interpretations, alongside lighter spritzes and classic digestives including grappa and limoncello.

Overlooking the gardens and Table Mountain, Morii is a calm, light-filled space made for relaxed, unhurried dining. Italian in inspiration and unmistakably Cape in character, it is a place to savour simple moments that linger long after the meal.

The service was great. I had the Polo pizza which had chicken cold meat on it. It was very disappointing.

We went for the first night of the pizza and Negroni special at Morii and it was amazing. Highly recommended. The focaccia and Italian kiss treats were a welcome surprise. The service and staff were amazing. Food was delicious and the special is super good value for money. I just feel that our hotels can serve a local water brand and don’t need to charge R115 for bottle of Italian water

Where do I even begin? Firstly, to paint a picture of the dreamy night in question - it was a wet, cosy evening. We entered Morii with an empty stomach and filled with excitement, curious to see what awaits us. We were seated and tended to by the kind staff, starting off by making a tough choice - our wine, that'll see us through the 4 course meal. Shortly, after sipping, soaking in the warm atmosphere, well-lit candlelight effect and the soft music that played in your backkground as if it was music in your hear - but not loud enough to get in the way on conversating. We started off with the foccia bread, soft, spongy and with a hint of rosemary and salt. Accompanied with 3 delicious infused butter, which took 'bread' to a different plane of taste and experiences. We both opted for the pork belly as the secondi, and let me tell you that we cleaned that plate better than any of the washers could. The bits of cripsy pork, accompanied with a rich, flavourful mash, with hints of peppermint, I almost feared that we were almost full and just getting started. But, the flavour of the next course, easily made space, I enjoyed the line fish, with cannoli and asparagus, and whatever magical sauce they whipped up. My date enjoyed the beef cheeks, on a tomato risotto base, that tasted like everything would be okay. The dessert? Tasted like magic, but you'll have to go taste that for yourself. A perfect date night.
