It's a real treat to sit at the water's edge in the V&A Waterfront and watch the lively marina, but at The Waterside, the true delight lies in the stylish dining experience that both visitors and locals love, every day of the week, for lunch or dinner. Take a seat on the deck or in the intimate restaurant and settle in for what will be a notable chef’s multi-course menu. There is also a reduced menu, and know that vegetarians are exceptionally well catered for.
The temptation of filling up on the milk bun with roasted garlic, smoked pine nut and rosemary is real, but know that the next wave of dishes will be equally appealing. Many guests go for the option of oysters to start, with chipotle, apple and cucumber...a real taste of the sea, right at the sea.
Talented head chef Roxy Mudie draws from her international upbringing in the Middle East and New Zealand and extensive travels, but her love of local always shines through. Vegetarians are well catered for, not only with the delightful cauliflower risotto with curry leaf, smoked labneh and hazelnut. Carnivores will call for more of the lamb with spinach elevated by a heady mix of North African spices. The Asian pork belly with scallops, corn, peanut and Szechuan will make your tastebuds sing, loudly.
After a perfect, sweet grand finale there are still the bon bons as an added treat. Here unintimidating yet professional service that one has come to expect from any La Colombe establishment is married with a laid-back ambience.
