Yama Sushi Eatery is Franschhoek’s premier sushi restaurant situated on the main road of Franschhoek.

The restaurant takes on a light, minimalistic approach that offers spacious seating both inside and outside in the courtyard. Our courtyard is fitted with a beautiful roof which has some heaters to make it warm.


The team, guided by Ryan Shell, aims to create a calm space where locals can fully relax and enjoy themselves with anything from a quick lunch to a full dinner spread. The eatery offers a high-quality sushi menu accompanied by an Asian-themed à la carte menu using fresh seasonal ingredients. Guests are sure to feel at ease as they are gracefully guided and taken care of by our passionate team throughout their visit.

Our wine list is focused on local wineries from in and around the valley as well as a selection of cocktails and sakes, including our own house brand beer-styled sakes.

The dining experience is completed with instrumental music that evokes a sense of calmness in our guests that enables them to unwind and relax.

    The food was nice, some dishes better than other. The squid is really good, the mix of dim sum surprisingly tasteful for the delicate ingredients. We ordered the tempura prawn, but got the tempura chicken. fine, not something to make a big deal out of. But the batter was too thick to call it tempura, taste was still good with the ketjap sauce. The chicken bao was oke, but I expected something more crispy, this was more like a chicken sausage. The maki was not fresh, the nori wasn't crispy so it seemed like it was pre-made. More like your average supermarket-shish (and that for R170 for 6 little pieces). The Donburi with brisket was good and filling with fresh veggies. All in all a good lunch. The bill was corrected with the chicken tempura but they forgot our deposit. Our waiter was a very friendly and attentive gentlemen.

    Nosso jantar no Yama foi ótimo! O ambiente é muito agradável, atendimento rápido e atencioso. A comida e o vinho tbm estavam ótimos. O ponto alto da noite foi a sobremesa, simplesmente o melhor brownie que já comi na vida. O sorvete com matcha também é muito gostoso e diferente.
