We had a lovely experience but we were surprised to see how dineplan said that you were fully booked but we were only 1 of 3 tables full, the rest of the restaurant was empty most of the night. The food was lovely, good cocktails, good service. Unfortunately the prices are outrageous and do not make it very accessible for a pre dinner experience. Location is also so out of the way, it would be perfect as a before or after theatre or concert, etc. if it was somewhere else. Also the tables are so small there is not enough space to put all the lovely trays and various pottery where the food is served - very uncomfortable to sit on the sofas and eat, not ideal sitting. I was really excited about this concept and the food quality met my expectations, but due to price and the other factors I mention above I do not think I will return.

We love the Pot Luck Club, but Salon Pot Luck doesn't feel conceptually ready yet. We had imagined something more like the Dark Room which was a past Test Kitchen concept prior to dinner. The cocktail list at Salon Pot Luck is fairly small and cocktails are okay, but not as good as they were in the Dark Room or Pot Luck Club. The food menu is small, but quite rich items and not totally fitting with cocktails. Again, the Dark Room had the cocktails and food pairings done really well, but this was not the case here. The staff meant well, but was overly attentive, hovering and coming by every few minutes to ask if we want to order anything or to take things away while we were still chewing on the last bites. The manager also came a couple of times to ask if we are enjoying ourselves. We just couldn't relax for all the constant interruptions. The lighting could be darker, cosier. The ambience feels slightly more like a diner than a speakeasy. Hopefully it will get there as we want it to do well, but it's not there yet.

A fantastic addition to the Cape Town restaurant scene and a very cool idea. Cocktails and Canapés both delicious and delectable. Adam
