We had a reservation for four people. We arrived shortly before the drumming session started at 18:30. The ambiance was colorful and pleasant. The staff was busy preparing for the evening meal or should I say experience? We were greeted by Siphokazi who ended up being our server. She was very friendly and pleasant throughout our experience. Although she had more than one table to serve, we felt well Taken care of during our visit. The drumming session was lead by Zack, who did a wonderful job leading the guests through the beginning of the experience and really set the foundation for the buzzing atmosphere. The drumming was a tremendous experience that was a very positive and uplifting start to the evening. If you make a reservation, do not miss the drumming. We had several courses of cape cuisine brought to the table. A variety of different appetizers were introduced and served sometimes alone or paired. By the time we would finish one appetizer, the next would be on its way and introduced to us. The main meals were brought to us in the same fashion, although individually. The food was vibrant and interesting, especially for our international guests. At some Point later in the evening we were asked if we would Like To participate in making a Garam masala. We gladly accepted and followed Thando to the back corner of the restaurant for a private lesson in making Garam Masala. The making of Garam Masala was very informative. Thando took her time explaining the spices and how they were introduced into the spice mixture. Some spices were ground and roasted while others were simply introduced after roasting. The lesson was very interesting and we were given our spice mixture to take home with us. The Jazz band was such a wonderful back drop to the entire evening. Guests were asked if they were celebrating any events when they arrived and the band recognized birthdays and anniversaries at the end of the evening. If we could give 10 stars for the evening, we would do it!

Absolutely loved this experience. The food was amazing and on top of that the entire evening is very interactive with the Jazz band and our wonderful waiter TT took great care of us. Also had the best Chia latte ever! Highly recommend SPYCED to everyone.

Sorry to say it was very stressed and did not feel at all autentic african. The musicians where good but instead of jazz as promised it turned out to be something that you can expect at Gran Canaria…including a kind of line dance… Do over and do right…🙏.

A really enjoyable evening. Great vibe and a tasty set menu of African food. Jazz music was nice and great audience participation. We found there wasn't any particular knock-out dish like we had the previous evening at the sister restaurant GOLD. Also, some of the dishes were a little lacking in "spice". Could have had more flavour. TT was our server and really looked after us well during the evening. Overall - recommended.
