Set in the beautiful landscape of the Cape Winelands, just outside Stellenbosch, VUUR
is all about fire, flavour and the primal connection between food and flame.

Under the direction of chef-owner Shaun Scrooby, VUUR redefines cooking over an
open fire by utilising the raw intensity of fire as both an ingredient and a technique.

At VUUR, fire is more than just a cooking method – it is a philosophy. Every dish is
carefully crafted with open flames, embers and smoke, enhancing the natural flavours of the finest ingredients sourced from local farmers, butchers and foragers.

The restaurant embodies a deep respect for nature, sustainability and the purity of elemental cooking.

Whether choosing VUUR Private Dining, sharing the experience with
other guests at the VUUR Goose Island Social Table, or viewing the chefs conjuring up their magic by sitting at the Chef’s Counter on Goose Island, you will be exposed to a magical theatre of cooking on open flames and bedazzled by the flavours extracted from the different types of wood used.

    My honest opinion: For R2150 a person at the social goose table, the experience is definitely tailored to the international tourist visiting Stellenbosch and not the south African customer wanting to enjoy a dining experience of note. If you're a couple from SA wanting that, book somewhere else for R4300. This is not for you. The courses were carefully prepared, however the portion size was small and unfortunately the food does not inspire a second visit. Perhaps if a second serving was offered it would make sense, but for the price you pay, the happy smiles of the Vuur staff and bottomless Remhoogte wines are insufficient to compare to a more ambient venue and gourmet meal away from the flies constantly wanting to have a nibble of your plate's content. The number 87 ranking in the top 101 steak restaurants in the world is difficult for me to wrap my head around as a local because the steal did not blow my mind, but I haven't visited Blockman yet in Gauteng to give a credible comparison. The single unisex bathroom to share between patrons also proved bothersome. If you have visited, maybe compare to Blockman as well.

    A lovely experience which we all enjoyed. It’s an expensive experience but overall worth it. Service was excellent and having the area to ourselves was really relaxing. . Lots of delicious food but a tad disappointed with steak. Cool when served and fat could have been crisped more. Nevertheless, would definitely try again some time.

    Fijne plek! Heerlijk gegeten, goeie service. Er is een hele relaxte sfeer en je kan tussen de gangen door lekker naar buiten van het uitzicht genieten. Wijn wordt volop bijgeschonken. Wij komen zeker nog een keer terug!
