Set in the beautiful landscape of the Cape Winelands, just outside Stellenbosch, VUUR
is all about fire, flavour and the primal connection between food and flame.

Under the direction of chef-owner Shaun Scrooby, VUUR redefines cooking over an
open fire by utilising the raw intensity of fire as both an ingredient and a technique.

At VUUR, fire is more than just a cooking method – it is a philosophy. Every dish is
carefully crafted with open flames, embers and smoke, enhancing the natural flavours of the finest ingredients sourced from local farmers, butchers and foragers.

The restaurant embodies a deep respect for nature, sustainability and the purity of elemental cooking.

Whether choosing VUUR Private Dining, sharing the experience with
other guests at the VUUR Goose Island Social Table, or viewing the chefs conjuring up their magic by sitting at the Chef’s Counter on Goose Island, you will be exposed to a magical theatre of cooking on open flames and bedazzled by the flavours extracted from the different types of wood used.

    Words can't even describe the experience we had at Vuur. Chef Shaun is a true master of the flame. The food was out of this world. The attention to detail and flavour combinations where stunning. The restaurant offers an amazing view over the field full of animals. The service is outstanding. I can't recommend this experience more. Well done Vuur!

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A truly unforgettable experience at Vuur! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Vuur is something truly special. The concept of a single shared table with other guests created a warm, intimate, and almost magical atmosphere — like being part of a private dinner party with strangers who quickly feel like friends. Chef Jean is nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish was a masterpiece — creative, perfectly balanced, and presented with such care and passion. You can taste the love in every bite, and Jean’s presence throughout the evening made the experience feel deeply personal. This isn’t just a meal — it’s an immersive culinary journey. If you’re looking for something out of the ordinary, something that stays with you long after the last course, Vuur is a must. Leroy made als a difference with his wine pairing. Can’t wait to return!
