Spring has arrived in the Bottelary Hills. The vines are in new leaf, the gardens are full of colour and birdsong has returned to the estate. Whether you’re planning a family day out, a long lunch or a quiet escape for two, this October there’s a reason to visit waiting for you at Hazendal.
A new chapter at Siyalima
Spring brings something new to the heart of the estate. From 8 October, Siyalima introduces a new way of dining, welcoming guests from Tuesday to Sunday for brunch until 12:00, followed by lunch. By day, the menu is lighter and more relaxed, with freshly made pâtisserie and the buzz of the open-plan kitchen setting the tone.
From Thursday to Saturday evenings, Siyalima takes on a different character. The bistro dinner offering is a more refined affair, made for evenings for two, special celebrations, or simply an unhurried meal on the estate as the Winelands grow quiet around you.
An afternoon of fynbos and flowers at Marks
For something truly seasonal, the Fynbos & Floral Afternoon Tea at Marks celebrates the colours, botanicals and fresh flavours of the Cape Floral Kingdom. Think green gazpacho with avocado, spekboom and cucumber, lemon scones with citrus butter and pear and vanilla jam and pulled lamb on brioche with waterblommetjie pickle and mint. Sweet treats bring in lemon verbena, thyme, gooseberry and blood orange rooibos.
The afternoon begins with a floral cocktail on arrival and unfolds to the sound of live piano, the kind of occasion that turns an ordinary weekend into a lasting memory.

Spring Picnics in Bloom
Few things capture the season quite like a picnic among the blossoms. Hazendal’s gardens were shaped by internationally acclaimed landscape designer and botanist Leon Kluge, and in spring they are at their most beautiful.
Spring Picnics in Bloom brings an elevated Stellenbosch picnic to the heart of those gardens. Expect a seasonal spread of garden-inspired flavours, local cheeses and charcuterie, fresh salads and delicate pastries. Gather your friends or family, find your spot on the lawn and let the afternoon take its course.

Your next family day out starts here
Hazendal has always been a place where families can spend the whole day together, and Wonderdal is a big part of why. This spring, young adventurers can join the Waste to Wonder Workshop, a hands-on, three-hour experience that turns everyday recycled materials into their very own Wonder Art masterpiece.
It is creative, fun and quietly meaningful, showing children how ordinary objects can be given a second life. Pair it with lunch at Siyalima or a picnic in the gardens, and the whole family has a day to remember.

Spring evenings, music and estate wines
When the sun sets over the Bottelary Hills, Marks comes alive. On Friday nights, M.A.D.D Fridays bring together Music, Artistry, Dance and Drama in an atmospheric setting overlooking the working wine cellar. Settle in with flavour-driven food, artfully crafted cocktails and a glass of Hazendal wine, and let the weekend begin.
Saturdays are a little more intimate. The Listening Room at the Marks lounge celebrates the best local musical talent in the Stellenbosch Winelands, with a guest artist each week alongside a monthly Resident Artist. Seasonal dishes and estate wines complete an evening made for good company and great listening.

Spring is also a season for pausing. The Hazendal Spring Luxury Pamper Package pairs a 60-minute curated massage with a beautifully prepared picnic lunch in the tranquil surrounds of the estate. Enjoy it as a moment of self-care or share it with someone special.
For a longer escape, the Spring Romantic Getaway offers a stay for two surrounded by the estate’s blossoming gardens. It includes bed and breakfast, a 120-minute couples’ treatment in the signature Hammam and a romantic private picnic in the gardens.
And for those who prefer to celebrate with a club in hand, Hazendal Golf has you covered. Spring Swings offers 90 minutes in the covered InRange driving-range bays with four beers and snacks, while the Weekday Golf Retreat combines 18 holes with a meal and a drink for each player in your fourball.
