Winter specials 2026: The set menus, steals and seasonal feasts to book this winter

by | 29 May 2026

Winter is when South Africa’s kitchens do their best work. The crowds thin out, the chefs slow down, and suddenly restaurants that are impossible to book in February are offering three courses for less than the price of a summer main.

This year’s crop of winter specials, drawn from what restaurants have listed on Dineplan, is incredibly tempting. Most run until the end of August or September, but the best offers get booked up on cold weekends far in advance. Our advice: book now!

Hey Michael, totally get where you’re coming from – at first glance, not all of the prices feel like massive specials. That said, the winter menus do offer better value than usual, especially when compared to the rest of the year.

We appreciate the feedback – we’re always keen to spotlight offers diners are looking for!

What about places other than Constantia, the City Bowl, or the Stellenbosch and further?
We have the whole Atlantic Seaboard (Milnerton to Melkbosstrand), Durbanville Wine Route, the Northern Suburbs … no good restaurants there? Or just no specials?
